Weaning Day

Beautiful day for weaning. The goat crew gathered the herd to wean the kids from the does. We ran everything down the alley and through the sort gate the boys welded. The sort gate works so well, a must have for a goat operation. We sent the does back to the pasture and once again ran the kids through to weigh. The extra work to weigh the kids provides much needed information about how well our does raise their young. Weights looked good at an average of over 50 pounds. I will discuss at a later time how we use the kid weights to help determine which does we cull and which does to keep.
