Creep Feeder

Started a new experiment this year with creep feeding. Our fence works well to keep the older goats out. We cut holes in the cattle panels to allow the kids access to the feeders. Through research we learned that graining the does in hopes of increasing milk production yields less benefit than allowing the kids access to creep feed. We hope this experiment of creep feeding will prevent stalled weight gain or loss of weight at weaning. Most years we wean the kids in September when pastures are drying up so they are put on hay and grain until sold in November and January when prices are higher at our local sale barn. Stay tuned for experiment results.
