Creep Feeding Update

The creep feeder worked well! The modified cattle panels allowed the kids to eat at the feeder while keeping the does out. We are happy with the results. It took a couple of weeks for all the kids to find the feeders and really start eating. The consumption of the creep feed gradually increased. The experiment proved successful in preventing weight loss at weaning. Kids went right to grain when they were weaned with no digestion issues. Calf creep was supplied to start and we made sure the feeders never were totally empty. At weaning, we mixed calf creep with a corn and oat ration gradually going to just the ration. Our buckling crop this year averages a higher weight than previous years. Looking forward to the sale at PAYS next Monday.
